The retreat will incorporate teaching, conversation, reflection, eating and fun!
FAQ'S
1. How much does it cost?
$50 per couple. This cost includes a delicious dessert Friday night as well and breakfast and lunch on Saturday.
2. Will there be overnight lodging provided?
No. We've chosen a beautiful location for the event that is conveniently located near downtown.
3. Who will be speaking?
Richard Brake, Psy.D., is a licensed psychologist in private practice. He holds a B.A. in Psychology from Baylor University, a M.A. in Clinical Psychology from St. Mary’s University, and a Psy.D. in Counseling Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University. He is specially trained in trauma and crisis response. Dr. Brake is also certified as a Birkman consultant to use the Birkman Method, a personality assessment that facilitates team building and interpersonal conflict resolution. Dr. Brake will help participants to see that conflict doesn’t have to wreck a marriage.
Jeff Kleck. With a BBA from Baylor University, an MBA from Jackson University, and as chair of the 2011 Baylor Business Network, Jeff Kleck brings a focused expertise to the area of financial management. From his tenure as the chair of his church’s committee on financial giving, and from his work with families in a program aimed at bringing order to troubled financial situations, he also brings a caring heart to the often frightening issue of family finances. Jeff will provide insight into good stewardship of financial resources.
Marla Rushing is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Corporate Trainer in San Antonio, TX. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Baylor University in Home Economics Education and a Master of Education degree from Southwest Texas State University in counseling. Her counseling career spans 25 years and includes marriage and family counseling, family preservation for kids on probation, and work with trauma victims. She began a study of forgiveness in 1995 which led to the development of retreats, workshops and support groups for people struggling with deep forgiveness issues. Marla will draw on the wisdom of profound life experience as well as academic training to help participants learn to speak to one another in love and understand one another in trust.
Josh Vaughan. As the Minister to Young Marrieds at FBC San Antonio, Josh leads initiatives that help couples prepare for marriage, enrich marriages and restore marriages that are struggling. His passion is to see married couples growing in joyful life together. He will bring biblical and practical perspective to a crucial area of marital fulfillment.
Bryan Richardson serves as Associate Pastor for Single Adults/Small Groups/Pastoral Care at FBC San Antonio. His work in listening to people as a pastor has given him ample opportunity to see how a person’s inner life affects marriages deeply. Because the inner life of a person is a sensitive and often hidden area, many of us find it easy either to ignore it, or to give in to patterns of behavior ingrained inside that seem to strong to resist. Both options can lead to disaster in a marriage. Bryan will invite participants to look at how Jesus handled his own inner life. If you learn from Jesus how to take your soul seriously, you will grow into the kind of person your spouse will want to live with more and more as the years go by.
