Re:Verse
First Baptist Church follows a unique design for Bible Study and Worship – one that we believe came from the Lord. A few years ago we noticed how fragmented our study of God’s Word was. One subject on Sunday morning, another in Sunday School, another in private study. No time to really reflect on any subject.
Together we decided to study one passage of scripture per week. Beginning on Monday, the Pastor blogs about it at TheEverydayPrayer.com, he preaches from it on Sunday, Bible study classes discuss it, small groups (Circle of 6) meet the following week to talk about the application of it to our lives. (We answer the Acts 22:10 question, “What would you have me do Lord?”)
Rather than being monotonous or boring, we have discovered the power that comes from this progressive meditation on God’s Word. To revisit the scripture to reconsider its meaning, to repeat and embrace the transformational changes that Christ is leading us to make … {re:verse} is an exciting way to unite our congregation and deepens our understanding of the Bible.
We invite you to try it with us for a few weeks. See if you do not experience the same fresh energy for God’s Word that comes with this unique discipline. “For Ezra had set his heart to study the law of the Lord, and to practice it, and to teach His statutes and his ordinances in Israel.” Ezra 7:10
